James Stewart was the Chief Executive Officer of MGM Growth Properties (NYSE: MGP; sold for $17.2bn). Mr. Stewart was the Company’s first employee and spearheaded the Company’s highly successful $1.2bn initial public offering in April 2016. MGP was subsequently honored to receive the prestigious International Financing Review magazine's 2016 U.S. IPO of the Year1 award by Thomson Reuters.
Prior to MGP, Mr. Stewart had more than 20 years of experience advising hospitality companies as an investment banker, focusing on corporate growth and strategy, mergers and acquisitions, activist shareholder response, investor relations, securities issuances and financial restructuring.
Mr. Stewart earned his Master of Business Administration with Distinction from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 1992, where he was named an Amos Tuck Scholar, and his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1988 from the University of Calgary where he won numerous awards and scholarships.
Andy Chien was the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of MGP since the initial public offering in April 2016. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Golden Entertainment, a publicly traded gaming company.
Prior to joining MGP, Mr. Chien worked at Greenhill & Co., Inc. from 2009 to 2016, most recently serving as a Managing Director responsible for the firm’s REIT, gaming, lodging and leisure clients. Prior to that, Mr. Chien served as a Director at UBS Investment Bank in Los Angeles, where he worked from 2004 to 2009 and was focused on the real estate, gaming, lodging and leisure industries. Mr. Chien’s previous experience also includes various roles as a member of the real estate group at Citigroup/Salomon Smith Barney as well as various positions at Commerce One and Intel Corporation.
Mr. Chien earned his Master of Business Administration from the Anderson School at UCLA in 2003, and his Bachelor of Science in Engineering, summa cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 1996.
